Drift
Mariel Fechik
We drive through unknown territory,
blue farmland
slaughter on the wind
and hiding in upstairs
windows
Every turnpike
brings a new
scent–
cedar pining itself in coils
juniper wafting from the west,
while your hand rests
softly on my thigh
horizon threading itself
through the middle
