Sometimes I Wish I Knew Hunger as Men Do
Shay Alexi
Death a friend cleaved
From cheap beer and proximity.
Death close, but pompous. Someone’s father will die
If he can’t fill me with his want and sometimes
That is the most important thing about me.
How embarrassing it is, to have a body
Made spoiled and stupid
By other people’s eyes.
I learn want as a synonym for wanted.
I pry bones that once held babies
From my inner thigh. I write an old man
A eulogy: survived
by his own craving.
