Virgin Birth

Janae Green

The pews
are aghast with mouthfuls
of murderwords and tigerstripes.
Child-hands claw
at her ivory belly,
popping sequins
and hand-stitched silver beading.
Sara presses her thighs together
to keep from spilling.
She feels its chewing.
The green,
unripened thing
gums past
her lip lining: two mouths
gaping
